Meet the team

We are a friendly, close-knit team at Macbeth Scott & Co Life and Pensions. We have a range of expertise and experience, but no matter who you work with you will always be guaranteed excellent customer service and the top quality advice you would expect.

Charles Scott

Director

Charles’s career started as a management trainee with a large insurance company, and moved to Insurance Broking in 1973.  He founded Macbeth Scott & Co in 1986, following the introduction of new legislation, and is qualified both as an insurance broker and a level 4 Independent Financial Adviser.

When not at work he is likely to be found near a rugby ground, or listening to live music.  Sometimes as with Status Quo’s gig at Kendal Rugby Club, he’s doing both at the same time!

Angela Pooley

Director

Since 1986 Angela has specialised in Financial Services, in particular, Corporate Financial Planning, Investments and Inheritance Tax Planning.  Having originally worked in the Corporate Sector of one of the UK’s largest clearing banks, Angela joined Macbeth Scott & Company Life and Pension Services Ltd in 1995.  She maintains and develops our business relationships with legal and accountancy professionals, as well as maintaining on-going relationships with our clients.  In addition, Angela mentors members of our team who see their long term future careers with our company.

Quentin Walshe

Adviser

Quentin’s career began in London in the late 1980s, later to qualify and specialise in Investments and Pension advice which enables him to advise clients throughout their lives, from their first mortgage right through to retirement planning.

Helena Nolan

Financial Planning Assistant

Helena brings many years of experience in the industry to our team, having worked for a large Discretionary fund management company in her home city of Liverpool.

After joining our firm in early 2018, Helena has enjoyed working closely with both our Independent Financial Advisers and our clients, also preparing client reports where her qualifications and experience is absolutely vital.

Helena is now studying to become a fully qualified Financial Planner, and her appointment is an important part of our company’s continued development for our future.  Most importantly, she is totally committed to her future career and the continued high level of service and advice provided to our valued clients.

Liz Rock

Research and Review Administrator

Our longest-serving team member, Liz Rock has been with us since 2009 and is responsible for research and the preparation of reviews.  She arranges up to date information for each client meeting and review, and obtains policy specific information on legacy accounts. Liz is also our resident expert on researching investments and portfolio performance.

Kelly Bonson

Client Services Administrator

Kelly has been part of the admin team since March 2014. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her young family and taking her dog on long walks. In her spare time Kelly loves cooking and watching old films.

Daniel Orton

Employee Benefits Administrator

Daniel’s earliest introduction to financial services was his internship at our company and, after graduating from Swansea University, began his career with one of the U.K.’s largest Banking Services.

After then gaining experience with the administrators of U.K. Government Pension Schemes, Daniel joined Macbeth Scott & Co ( Life & Pension Services ) in April 2021 to realise his ambition of becoming a fully qualified Independent Financial Adviser. Daniel is currently responsible for supporting our Corporate clients and Employee Benefit Schemes.

Daniel is being mentored by our Director and gaining considerable experience with our qualified administration team and Financial Advisers , whilst studying to meet the FCAs exacting standards to meet the demanding qualifications required to qualify as an independent financial adviser.

Joseph Slader

Systems Administrator

After gaining a Masters in the Psychology of Advertising from Lancaster University, Joseph initially joined our company as an Intern.

However, he became too valuable to our company due to his commitment and dedication and has now joined our permanent team of staff.

Joseph is analysing all of systems to help us manage and improve our understanding of how we can maximise their benefits for our clients and our services.

We all had to adapt quickly during the pandemic lockdowns and find alternatives to our regular face to face client meetings, Joseph is best placed to maximise these opportunities, and see us into the future.
